Gangotri

Considered as one of the holiest place in India, Gangotri is one among the 4 pilgrims of the Hindus. Situated at about 3000 meters above the sea level, this place is surrounded by the beautiful hills of Garhwal. Gangotri has a beautiful scenic view which lures international tourists to go there. There is a deep history of this holy place. It is said that Goddess Ganga turned herself as a river so that she can forgive all the sins of the ancestors of King Bhagirath. This act also forgave the self-punishment of the future centuries. It was Lord Shiva that reduced the impact that her fall had. This is the reason a temple is created near that consecrated stone which is considered as the point where she touched the earth.

Apart from the holiness of Gangotri, it is also famous for many tourist destinations. Actually the sacredness of this place is the only thing that lures thousands of people to visit it every year.
